Scott has been painting and drawing most of his life. In 2003, Scott discovered Plein Air Painting in Laguna Beach, CA, and committed himself to painting the landscape outdoors.
In 2010, Scott was introduced to The Hawthorne and Hensche approach to painting at the Cape School of Art in Provincetown, MA. This painting approach is the "Art of Seeing color" or "Painting the light effects of nature".
Continuing to develop his painting, Scott has studied under Master Painters of Henry Hensche at The Cape School of Art: Hilda Neily, Camille Przewodek, John Ebersberger, Rob Longley, Sammy Britt, and John Clayton.
"My Inspiration as a painter is not the subject, but the color of the light that falls upon it."
In addition to painting, Scott teaches drawing and painting classes at The Forest Hills Fine Art Center and OLLI at Aquinas College. Scott also teaches painting and drawing workshops throughout Michigan.
